It's time to reel in reckless government spending and regulations!

 

As we approach Election Day, our national economy still remains weak. It wasn't supposed to be this way.

 

In 2008, President Obama promised the nation lower unemployment, infrastructure construction jobs, an end to the foreclosure crisis, lower deficits, and on and on. He said his stimulus bill would spur economic growth. It hasn't.

 

I voted against the stimulus bill because I know he was taking the exact wrong approach to the issue. We cannot - as has been so amply proven - spend our way out of this Great Recession.

 

As your Representative, I have repeatedly called for a return to fiscal discipline in Washington, significant tax and regulatory reform, and helping job creators actually create more jobs, rather than paralyze them with red tape, additional fiscal burdens, and the uncertainty of a fiscal policy that seems to have the federal government pick the companies and industries that will win or lose rather than the free market system.

 

As a small business owner, I know all too well the obstacles we face to rebuliding our economy and adding more jobs. Attempting to tax and regulate our way to a stronger economy does not benefit the struggling shop owners and middle class families, only the tax collectors and regulators.

 

We've all seen the National Debt Clock - every tick of that clock adds another burden to our children and grandchildren, every tick of that clock makes a business owner think twice about expanding, every tick of that clock weakens our great nation. We must end rampant government spending and bring down the deficit - now!

 

By freeing our economy to do what it does best - grow, innovate, prosper - we can come roaring out of this recession and restore the nation's faith in the great American Dream.
